5 v 2 - Soccer Drills

5 v 2

Make groups of 7 and give each group one ball. 2 people are selected to be the defenders.

The other 5 players set themselves up in a small circle around the 2 other players. The object of the game is to keep the ball away from the 2 players in the center of the circle. Once one of the 2 players wins the ball, that player goes to the outside, and the person who lost the ball becomes one of the 2 defenders.

Suggested Rules
-The first pass in free. The defenders can not take the ball until after the first pass.
-The circle must stay small. Otherwise, it will be nearly impossible for the players in the middle to win the ball.
-The person, who has been a defender the longest goes to the outside when the ball is won, even if the other player wins the ball.

Optional Rules
-If the defending players touch the ball during the first pass, they must stay in an additional turn.
-If the 2 defenders are split by passing the ball in between them, they stay in for another turn.
-If any defender allows a player to complete a pass through the defender’s legs, both defenders stay in for another 2 turns.

The rules of this drill are not concrete. Many alterations and additions can be made to improve the game.
