Dribble Through the Cones - Soccer Drills

Dribble Through the Cones

This drill works on the players basic dribbling skill.

Set up a straight line of about 10-15 disk. Each disk should be about 4 strides away from the previous disk. Have every player get a soccer ball, and have them dribble in an out through the cones.

If the drill is too easy or too hard, you can change the distance between the cones accordingly. You can also zig-zag the cones to make the drill more challenging.

You may want to make several variants of the drill. Start off by having the players use only their right foot, and then after a few minutes switch the drill to left foot only. You can also vary the drill by only allowing the inside of one foot, and then switch to the outside of the foot.

To make the drill more fun for the players, set up a second line of disks and split the players into 2 equal groups. Then the two teams can race each other.

If you have disks, you can place a ball onto each disk. Then if any player knocks over a ball, they have to some sort of punishment, such as push-ups.

Although the drill may seem too easy, practicing the basics is always important no matter what level of soccer you are playing.
