Team Chase - Soccer Drills

Team Chase

diagram
In this fitness exersize you need to split your players into 4 teams. If you don’t have enough players you can adapt it to 2 or 3 teams. The objective of the excersize is for the team to catch the team in front of them. Each team should be connected in some way. I suggest giving a rope to each team to hold on to or just having each team link arms.

You can use a normal sized soccer field for this drill or set up a smaller area with cones. Once the teams are set up in their positions as shown in the picture, then you can tell them to go. Alternatively you can vary the direction the teams are running to avoid cheating.

Once a team catches the team in front of them, they are done and can stop. The team that is caught continues running. The exersize continues until only one team is remaining. That team should have to do additional fitness in order to motivate the players to run. For optimum workout do the drill 3-5 times.

sounds like a good way to work in some fitness.....however it will be hard to keep proper dribbling form while connected. Groups of 4 single people may work better.

Usually the players do not dribble a ball in this drill. It is done solely for fitness.

GOOD DRILL. BETTER ADD THAT THE FASTER PLAYERS OF THE TEAM SHOULD BE SPLIT EVENLY AMONG THE OTHERS SO ITS FAIR GAME.
